Siem Reap Ends Lockdowns

Siem Reap: The Siem Reap provincial administration has decided to end the lockdowns in the province and end the primary health checkpoints at the provincial borders with effect from Thursday.

In the decision dated 30 September, the Governor of Siem Reap decided to end all the red and yellow zones in Siem Reap and also end the primary health checkpoints bordering Siem Reap. Provincial Governor Tea Seiha wrote on his Facebook page that the decision of the provincial authorities at this time was in accordance with instructions of the Prime Minister, who understood the plight of the people in the closed areas.

However, Tea Seiha warned that he would ask the prime minister to re-designate the red zones if the people continue to violate the three health protection measures to prevent serious infections in the community again.

"I still hope and believe that we can do it, I cannot do it alone, only the people decide the fate of our province, join together, we will succeed together," he wrote.

Since 31 August the Siem Reap provincial administration has begun a series of blockades in various geographical areas of the province to combat the spread of Covid-19, which the governor said was to protect people from the spread of the disease.
